ABOUT US
Eastern Maine Camera Club is one of Maine’s oldest Camera Clubs. Our club serves as a social setting for photography enthusiasts and as way to share the latest advancements in photography. Members range from beginners to advanced.
Long time members remember, Frank Howd and Ed Maxsimic, set the pattern for today's club. It exists to help members improve their photographic skills by providing a supportive learning environment. Members are encouraged to share their knowledge.
We meet twice a month much of the year. Generally, the first meeting of the month we have a speaker. Living near Acadia NP we have had many nationally known photographers present to our club. The second meeting of the month are competitions with reviews conducted by members with photography experience. They are given in a constructive, non-critical manner.
Every summer our club helps the Bangor State Fair with their Photo Contest. We also are part of NECCC. New England Camera Club Council. The NECCC serves as a larger venue to learn photography skills.
One of the best parts of the club has been our field trips. Field trips are an opportunity to spend time with people who love photography and photo opportunities. One popular trip has been to a historic lifesaving station in Lubec, ME. near the West Quaddy Head Lighthouse. Other trips have been to waterfalls, covered bridges, spectacular winter locations. Long time member Don Darling is to be thanked for arranging outstanding locations.
